“Making a difference in people’s lives through care, connection and compassion.”

Welcome to Clear Lines Advocacy Service. Clear Lines is a Deaf-led company which provides advocacy for people at some of the most vulnerable times in their life. Whilst our specialism is Deaf Advocacy, Natalie has many, many years’ experience working across both Deaf and Hearing communities.

What is Advocacy?

Professional Advocates support people at some of the most difficult and confusing times of life. Advocates work independently from any Local Authority, Hospital or Public Service, helping you to understand your current situation, know your human rights and the choices you have available to you. Advocacy empowers people by helping them to understand their own situation and helping them to make decisions about their own lives. A Professional Independent Advocate can make a real difference in people’s lives by representing them and their own views at times when they may struggle to do this for themselves.

How can a Professional Independent Advocate help you, your loved-one or your clients?

Independent Advocates help support direct clients by:

  • Offering a person-centred approach

  • Listening to you, your views and your wants and wishes

  • Provide important information in a way you will understand; this helps you to make informed decisions about what actions you want to take

  • Accompanying you and supporting you in appointments, important meetings, tribunals and reviews about your care

  • Raising queries and concerns on your behalf

  • Helping you to access services and signposting you to suitable support organisations.

  • Bridging communication between you and your support team (i.e. Ward Staff, Consultants, Education Committees, Local Authorities, Psychological Services etc).

There are some situations where individuals have a legal right to a professional Independent Advocate (e.g. Courts, Tribunals, Mental Health Assessments and Care Reviews). This type of service is called ‘Statutory Advocacy’. Clear Lines Advocacy has over 15 years’ experience in providing Statutory Advocacy and more information is provided about these specific types of advocacy under the ADVOCACY tab above.

How can Clear Lines Advocacy help?

At Clear Lines Advocacy, we work to ensure that all people are treated fairly and with respect, enabling them to receiving the proper care and support they need directly. Historically, Deaf people have been oppressed for generations. Often, Education, Public Health and Mental Health Services do not understand what it means to be Deaf and part of a cultural and linguistic minority.

Furthermore, being a Deaf professional, Natalie is able to build a direct rapport with clients, without the need for a third party or interpreter to be engaged. This can be especially beneficial in very sensitive cases. Being able to have a direct connection with clients offers the truest form of advocacy; Deaf people are able to remain at the centre of decisions which affect them, their support and their lives.
